About Us
AlternativeTheatre, then known as Heart Productions, started in 2003.
Since then, our professionally-produced theatre has been seen in Birmingham, London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Bath, Oldham, Bristol, and Buxton.
In that time we have won a number of theatre and festival awards and nominations, including Best New Writing, Best Play, and Best Adaptation.
What makes alternativeTheatre alternative?
We choose to do what we feel we want to do, not what we are required to do.
We look to explore new ways of creating Theatre in everything we do, whether that's stripping back theatre to simply actors and words, devising and collaborating with others, reflecting the world around us and our experiences, or simply creating new pieces of theatre from established works and stories.
